The Ardmore Initiative is proud to announce the creation of The Charles F. Ward Service to Ardmore Award.
Ardmore, PA —The Charles F. Ward Service to Ardmore Award will be presented to the person whose efforts and good works have impacted the Ardmore community in meaningful and significant ways. This award is intended to honor someone whose attributes emulate those of Charlie Ward, past President of Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners and Founding Chairman of the Ardmore Business District Authority (the Ardmore Initiative), in whose name this award is made.
Nominees should emulate Charlie and the manner in which he did and continues to conduct himself as a person and as former Chair of The Ardmore Initiative. Words such as selflessness, courage, integrity, leadership and kindness describe some of Charlie's attributes. The award shall be presented to an individual, and while it may be made posthumously, a living recipient is preferable. The nominee must be connected to Ardmore in some fashion; a geographic presence Ardmore is not a requirement, but it is preferable.
The award will be made annually at the Ardmore Initiative's Annual Awards Dinner. The 2008 Awards Dinner will be held on Monday, September 22 at the Green Valley Country Club, in conjunction with the 6th annual Ardmore Swings! Golf Outing.
The Awards Committee is made up of current and honorary members of the Ardmore Initiative Board of Directors and they will select the recipient annually. Nominations must be complete and received by the Ardmore Initiative by
Midnight, June 30, 2008.
"This award is a wonderful way to honor Charlie for all of his good work for the Ardmore community over many years." says Mike Silver, current Chair of The Ardmore Initiative. "We believe there will be many strong candidates for this award. We value the contributions of the many fine volunteers who are working for a better Ardmore and this is an opportunity for us to recognize and acknowledge the contributions of someone whose efforts go above and beyond in the service of Ardmore."
