Swain Techs Unveils the GreenNet Program: Creating Environmentally Friendly Technology for Technology Friendly Environments
Ardmore, PA —Swain Techs introduces the new GreenNet program offering environmentally friendly technology solutions from a provider that is powered by 100% renewable energy. Beginning in January of 2008, one hundred percent of all Swain Techs business operations will be powered by national wind energy sourced by its strategic partner and long time customer, Community Energy, Inc. The firm will also offer a host of ecologically conscious options including environmentally friendly computer disposal, carbon offset credits and Plant-A-Tree contributions through a combination of in-house initiatives and supplier partnerships.
"It has been an interest and passion of mine for a long time now to ensure we all do our part in conserving the environment. On a personal level this is something I've been actively following and I am very excited to be able now implement a planet-friendly approach to Swain Techs," says President and founder Brett Swain.
In late December 2007, Swain Techs purchased a block of renewable wind energy credits equal to the power consumption of all US business operations, some 22,000 kilowatt hours. The purchased carbon offset is the estimated equivalent of planting nearly 12 acres of trees or not driving over 34,000 miles. This renewable energy purchase serves as the first step in Swain Tech's four point GreenNet initiative. In addition to power consumption offsets, the firm is expanding its use of remote access technologies therefore reducing the carbon emissions associated with automobile travel by its technicians. Swain Techs will also be offering environmentally responsible PC recycling services to dispose of hazardous waste materials resulting from disassembly. The last pillar in the GreenNet strategy is the offering of a Plant-A-Tree offset credit included with every new PC purchased from Swain Techs in 2008.
"We find that our customers in the small and medium size market are increasingly concerned about their environmental profile but are often at a loss as to how they can make a difference. The GreenNet program makes enterprise level commitments available on a per-deal basis creating scalable solutions, much the same strategy as our IT services", says Senior Project Manager, John Glatthorn, head of the firm's IT Strategy practice. The program will become active in 2008 and will be rolled out to all existing and prospective customers.
